Sofitel Magic Lagoon Resort & Spa is Accor's newest resort in popular Khao Lak area, located 90 km. north of Phuket airport. Built along Khuk Khak Beach, a long stretch of sandy beach lined by casuarinas trees, the resort is scheduled to soft-open mid of December 2002. During the first opening phase the 4-star resort will have a total of 79 deluxe rooms and suites in several low-rise buildings and a lagoon-style pool area of 4000m2. By the end of April 2003 the resort will be closed for the construction of 218 additional rooms and an extension of the pool area, which after completion will have a total of 8000 square metres
